Kindle 3G Vs Wifi: Getting To Know Your Kindle Better
The popular Amazon book reader and web browser is now available in at least two models, namely, the Kindle 3G and the Kindle Wi-Fi. Techies and geeks are now busy debating the relative merits of Kindle 3G vs Wifi. The important question is which one is best for you.
The main difference is that the 3G unit comes with both 3G network and wireless hotspot connectivity whereas the other unit comes with only wireless hotspot connectivity. In other words, the 3G unit comes with both a modem that allows it to hook into a mobile telecommunications network and also a built-in wireless network adapter. The Wi-Fi unit only has a wireless network adapter.
Both models have a customized Web browser that includes a new Article Mode option that positions the displayed page into a text-only format. Although there are a few minor cosmetic differences on the physical look of the two devices, Internet connectivity is the real important difference.
The 3G device comes provided with access to a telco 3G mobile network. The user can use this connectivity to hook into the Internet anywhere the network has coverage. In some countries, this connectivity is provided free. The network is operated by a local telco carrier that partners with Amazon.
